The purpose of this workshop was to gain understanding of key elements of incident command by bringing together professionals from all levels of the incident management community. The “ground truth” information gathered at this workshop will be critical in the development of next generation simulation software for incident management. This software could provide a virtual representation of a community or region, including detailed infrastructure descriptions, demographic information, location and capabilities of emergency responders/resources, and allow incident command decision makers to test the impact of decisions during a hypothetical crisis. Ultimately, this could develop into a fully interactive national resource to facilitate effective catastrophic event response planning. Some related links of note:
